What kind of consumer base can I reach with my app?
Linksys is the leader in providing premium home routers and we are uniquely positioned to offer new router technology. We have sold more than 7 million routers in the past year, and close to 2 million of those were in the premium price tier of routers, which are becoming known as Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers. We see great growth in home networking in the future and our routers are well positioned to grow with this market.
How do I reach consumers with my apps and services?
After you create your service and application using the SDK, you decide which app store or delivery method to use. You work directly with that store to make your service or app available.
What is the revenue sharing model with Linksys?
We want developers to be successful and this to be a rewarding experience (both as a development environment and financially for our developers). We believe in our Smart Wi-Fi Routers as a platform and want to encourage as much development using that platform as possible.
Linksys allows developers to choose how to market the apps and services they create. Our goal is to make it flexible so that developers can do what makes sense for them. In addition, Linksys will soon offer a market option. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
How do I become an approved developer?
Simply apply to be an approved developer and when you're approved, you can access the complete SDK and get started. It's easy to get started - within the Linksys Developer Community portal, click on the Overview menu, and then select Program Guidelines for details.
Is there a cost to be a part of this program?
No.
How will my apps be promoted?
Linksys markets products to consumers globally through promotional events, retail activities, and direct-to-consumer marketing, and we are communicating the uniqueness of our Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers. In addition, whenever a consumer logs into Linksys Smart Wi-Fi to manage their router, apps from partner and developers may be shown as available for purchase and download.
Our Linksys website will also promote partner apps that work with Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers, as well as various events in retail and consumer shows. Linksys is committed to the platform and ecosystem and we are fully dedicated to promoting apps and services that work with our routers.
